Samui Airport steps up safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 for passengers and employees

 

Samui Airport, under the management of Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited, is set to resume operations by stepping up precautionary measures to ensure highest safety level to all passengers and employees and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The measures are in compliance with the regulations laid out by the Ministry of Public Health and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand for domestic travel during COVID-19 pandemic.

The precautionary measures are to ensure safety to our passengers, customers and employees of all the businesses at the airport.

Passenger safety measures

Passengers are required to fill out health declaration form by Samui Municipality at port of origin and to wear masks at all time during their journey. The airport will provide social distancing arrangements at all service areas with sign boards and floor markers to indicate necessary distance. The airport has also put in place screening points to check body temperature of all passengers and wearing masks is mandatory before entering the terminal. For arrival passengers, adequate alcohol-based hand sanitizers will be provided at all traffic areas.

Airport cleaning measures

Airport disinfectant cleaning is set to be done on hourly basis while common service areas and high-traffic areas will be cleaned more frequently. Disinfectant spray will be used to clean restrooms and toiletries e.g. hand soaps, paper napkins will be provided for adequate use.

Safety measures for airport tenants and its employees

Employees of all airport tenants must NOT have travel history to or live in high-infected areas within the timeframe as designated by the government. All are required to wear masks, gloves, pass through temperature screening points before entering the premises, and wash their hands frequently. All businesses are required to put up signs informing customers to wear masks, provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer and arrange appropriate social distancing for queuing as regulated.

Restaurants and food kiosks to offer take away service or arrange necessary physical distancing on table layouts and seating if wish to provide dine-in service. It is required to use restaurants’ own utensils only and to clean table and chairs every time after single service.

Airport employee safety measures

All airport employees must NOT have travel history to or live in high-infected areas within the timeframe as designated by the government. All are required to wear masks, gloves and other personal protective equipment at all time when on duty, pass through temperature screening points before entering the premises, and wash their hands frequently. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are provided for all airport staff.

Samui Airport has in place the screening procedures in regards to passengers, customers, or employees found with high body temperature. They will not be allowed to enter the terminal and will be escorted to separate waiting area. If any suspected case found with other risk factors, for example, signs of respiratory symptoms, a medical history of pneumonia, travel history to or live in high-infected areas or those who have occupations that are in close contact with tourists, or work in high traffic environment or large crowd and those in close contact with infected patients or suspects within the last 14 days, will be immediately reported to their respective companies in case of employee. Each company will follow their procedures in taking care of their employees who may have been infected with the virus. For passengers and airport customers, the case will directly be reported to the airlines and airport medical unit to comply with the procedures set by Department of Decease Control, the Ministry of Public Health.

Samui Airport reaffirms that health and hygiene of passengers, customers and employees are its top priority. The airport continues to implement necessary health and safety measures during COVID-19 pandemic to ensure highest level of safety to all.
